Breakfast and lunch are served Monday through Friday to all ISANA scholars completely free of charge.
Research has shown that students who have access to healthy meals on a regular basis have better school attendance, higher grades, better memory and alertness, and faster information processing. Additionally, students who participate in school meals are more likely to eat fruits, vegetables, and milk. These nutrient-dense foods contribute to a healthier Body Mass Index (BMI) and lower childhood obesity.
During the 2022-23 school year, California became the first state to implement a statewide Universal Meals Program for school children. To learn more about this, please visit the California Department of Education’s Universal Meals website.
